Grohe bathtub mixer PA 1X 3164

Impossible to use the shower since the diverter does not stay in place.

The water flow through the shower head and the tap at the same time, when I pull the diverter. When I release the diverter, it drops down an the water continue to flow only through the tap.

The bathtub mixer is a Grohe PA 1X 3164. You will find the model/type at the rear of the mixer (red ring)

Grohe PA 1X 3164 front.

To remove the diverter I used a small screwdriver to remove the lid from the diverter.Remove the shower hose as well.

After removing the lid you will see a 6,5 mm nut.

Undo the 6,5 mm nut and remove the parts below in the order from right to left.

Use a 17 mm spanner/wrench to remove the diverter from the mixer.

In this case: The problem was that the O-ring (red square) had been pushed into the diverter. The O-ring was ok, so I just put it back in place again. This diverter can be disassembled into several pieces. By pulling in the direction of the arrow, you will be able to remove/replace the coil springs.

Samsung LE40S86 BDX/XEE LCD TV

Power ON the Samsung LE40S86 BDX/XEE LCD TV was not possible.

Remove the 16 Philips screws from the back panel.
Photo with the back panel removed.

A photo of the power board. Remove the 7 Philips screws to get to the soldering side of the PCB.

There was a problem with 3 of the capacitors on the power board. The capacitors location is marked with a red ring in the first photo. The old and not working capacitors had the values 1000 uF, 10V and 105C. I replaced them with 1000 uF, 25V and 105C

I put the TV together in reverse order and switched the power on. Hey presto, a working TV :)

Fini, Amico 25/2000 air compressor

Servicing my air compressor.

The compressor was letting the air out after the pressure switch, switched off.

First off all an overview of how an air compressor suppose to work.

I changed the piston rings:

Undo the pipe from the air outlet.
There are 4 x 8mm. bolts, 2 on each side, to remove the motor and the plastic cover away from the air-tank. The power-cable must be disconnected from the pressure switch.

Remove the oil from the motor. Use the oil plug or just remove the dipstick, turn the motor upside down, and poor it out.

4 bolts keep the cylinder-head in place. (2 x 10 mm. and 2 x 13 mm.)
4 small bolts/screws keep the black oil dipstick/cover in place.

After removing those bolts it will look like this. Be careful with the seal. Just pull the cylinder upwards, away from the piston.

The connectingrod can be pulled away from the crankshaft.
Partnumber for  connectingrod: 016091021
I changed the pistonrings.

Here you can see the different parts.

After I've assembled motor again I was swapping the old pressure switch for a new one.

Ne-Ma Pressure switch specifications

- 4 outlets, 1/2 inch inner screw
- Maximum Voltage: 300V
- Current: 20A
- Maximum Pressure: 12 Bar (175 PSI)
- Casing Dimension(L x W x H): Approx. 82 x 82 x 52mm (3.2 x 3.2 x 2 inches)

The pressure switch was set to min. 6 Bar and max. 8,5 Bar.
In case you want to change the setting, it is done by turning the bolt at the top of the switch. (Red ring)

I started the compressor. It was running until it reached 8,5 Bar and then it switched of the motor, as it should. But, the air was escaping from pressure control switch. (Small tube connected to the pressure switch).

The problem in my case was a sticky non return valve.
I opened it and cleaned it with alcohol. Lubricated it with silicon spray.
The air compressor was working as new again :)

VDO CDR 2005 CD stereo in a 2003 Opel Corsa

The Power ON/OFF and Volume button was not working.

It was very difficult to switch the unit on and off and the volume control was not working either.

I removed the 4 Allen screws (red circles) before I could insert the radio removal pins (below) into the holes covered by the Allen screws (placed according to the blue squares). Pulled out the Volume/On/Off button (green circle) as well.

Before you disconnect the connectors at the rear of the unit, make sure you have the security code.
You will find the code on your Opel Car Pass.

To get to the circuit board I removed 2 hex screws (red circles) on each side of the unit before separating the plastic front from the circuit board.

I used a soldering iron to heat the 2 soldering points at the rear of the circuit board (red circles).

Then I used a soldering iron to heat the 4 soldering points at the front of the circuit board (green circles).

Assemble the unit in reverse order.

Cancelling electronic lock after power supply is isolated.

After switching on the radio "SAFE" appears in the display.

Switch on the ignition.
Switch off the radio with the push control button.
Press AS control and hold down.
Switch on the radio and hold AS control down until a confirmation tone is heard.
"CODE" appears in the display after 3 seconds and the number of remaining attemps to enter the CODE appears, eg *10 ---- .
Enter the CODE digits (Opel Car Pass) using the preset controls 1,2,3 and 4

Example: The CODE is 1  2  3  4 .

Press preset control 1 twice and the display shows 1  -  -  -
Press preset control 2 three times and the display shows 1  2  -  -
Press preset control 3 four times  and the display shows 1  2  3  -
Press preset control 4 five times and the display shows 1  2  3  4

Confirm CODE: If the correct CODE can be read from the display, press the AS control until a confirmation tone is heard.

After 10 failed attempts, the radio unit will be inoperative. The waiting time between each attempt will be longer and longer. Ex. after 9 th attempt the waiting time will be 640 minutes.

Bosch PSM 80A multi sander, 230VAC

My Bosch PSM 80A multi sander just stopped working.

4 x screws keep it together (see yellow circles). I used a normal flat headed screwdriver.

It was very dusty inside as you can see from the next 2 photos.

First of all I was cleaning the tool with compressed air.
Then I used a multimeter in order to check for continuity between the two cables connected to the power switch (yellow circles), with the switch set to "ON". There was no continuity so I pried the switch open using a small flat headed screwdriver. The contact points (red circles)were really dirty.

I cleaned the contact points (yellow circles) using a fiberglass brush (red arrow) and put the tool together again in reverse order.

Another electrical tool was saved from the junk-yard.
